以上六部經典作品，你都能叫得出片名嗎？那麼下面這一部呢？
世界上的好電影太多了，永遠看不完，於是就會有很多人願意做出精精選推荐，年度十大佳片，或者百年百片票選，都是基於同樣的心情：要在汗牛充棟的電影市場中，篩選出一些必看佳片，不要浪費大家時光。
可是再怎麼選，勢必都有遺憾，亦有遺珠，一旦發現自己鍾愛的影片入榜，會有一種吾道不孤的興奮；一旦發現自己不愛或者不曾聽過的作品竟然入選，不是問號連連，就是罵聲連連。
英國衛報的電影版經營得非常熱鬧，三不五時就會有新話題推出，最近玩的遊戲就是史上的七大類型電影的前二十五名票選活動，大家可以參考以下的連結：http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2010/oct/22/best-film-ever-chinatown-season
首先是先由衛報當家影評人選出「愛情（romance）」、「恐怖（horror films）」、 「犯罪（crime films）」、「科幻（sci-fi and fantasy ）」 、「戲劇與藝術（drama and art ）」、「喜劇（Comedy）」和「動作與戰爭（action and war）」七類，各二十五部作品，再由影評人和讀者票選，選出七大類的最佳作品。
最後，再從中選出最佳中的最佳作品，結果《唐人街（Chinatown (Roman Polanski, 1974)）》拿到第一（滿出人意料的結果），希區考古的《驚魂記（Psycho (Alfred Hitchcock, 1960)）》和塔科夫斯基的《安德烈．盧布列夫（Andrei Rublev (Andrei Tarkovsky, 1966)）》並列第二；第四名是伍迪．艾倫的《安妮霍爾（Annie Hall (Woody Allen, 1976)）》，第五名則是庫布立克的《2001: 太空漫遊（ 2001: A Space Odyssey (Stanley Kubrick, 1968)）》，第六名為大衛連的《相見恨晚（Brief Encounter (David Lean, 1945)）》；柯波拉的《現代啟示錄（Apocalypse Now (Francis Ford Coppola, 1979)）》則排第七。
七大類中一共有一百七十五部作品，華人導演的比例只有三部，李安的《臥虎藏龍》、王家衛的《花樣年華》和吳宇森的《鎗神》都各自有一席之地，顯然，英國人的品味相當符合「老外看華人電影」的偏愛與偏見（我也很喜歡這三部電影，但也應該還有其他選擇才是）。
對於每一回的票選活動，我比較在意的是有沒有增加一些從未聽聞的作品？這回的喜劇類片單中，就有多部相當陌生，另外，我一直不愛看恐怖片，光是看到有這麼多部吸血鬼電影入選，也不能不佩服老英的獨沽一味。不過，有新片單，就有新指標，根據指標找片子看，也是休閒時光滿有趣的揀片時光。
